[00:00:11] Michelle: When I was 10 years old, I stumbled upon a radio show called The Sunday Night Sex Show with Sue Johanson, and it was like a light bulb went off in my head. And she really did such a great job at taking the shame out of sex. And for me, growing up, sex and sexuality and even how you viewed your body were all very much based in shame.
[00:00:44] And so, when I listened to Sex with Sue, I realized that sex didn't have to be connected with shame, and that it could actually be a pretty matter of fact conversation that you could even laugh about. I don't know! [censored]. And so from Sue, I became completely fascinated with sex, so much so that I became my school's de facto sex therapist.
[00:01:15] Even to the point that I was 14 years old, I was taking people to sexual health clinics so that they could get their birth control. I wasn't having sex, but my friends were. I lived my whole life working towards becoming a sex therapist so that I could do the very same thing that Sue did for me: to help people take the shame out of sex and sexuality and to view sex as something that can be fun and that you can laugh about and that you can lean into.
[00:01:50] And so here I am! And this is what I do! And I love my job. In season two, we talk about all things sexy and sexual: good sex, maybe not- so-good sex, ethical porn, erection disappointment, sex work, disordered eating, and how to have fun and not take sex so seriously. To be in the moment and not have to think about anybody else but yourself.
[00:02:18] So, if you wanna learn how to really have fun during sex and learn about things like, I don't know, sexual surrogacy - do you know what that is? Or what about body image and the importance that that plays in how you really just allow yourself to be present and grounded in a sexual experience.
[00:02:39] All of those things are so important, and we are talking about all of those things in season two. Episodes of GETSOME come out every two weeks.
